Educators and Staff

Our Children Services continue to provide care and education to families in Mirrabooka and the surrounding areas.

Our Services have a uniqueness of its own which reflects the staff, children and families that are part of that Service Community. Educator’s residences and educational programs provide children with stimulating opportunities to develop to their full potential.  Staff and Educators have continued in their work under the National Quality Framework and Services.

Our commitment to the professional learning and development of our staff has expanded to include all areas of professional development required by the new legislation, including the need for reflective practice to promote and sustain continual improvement in our practice and pedagogy and an emphasis on building leaders within the service.

As a condition of employment at Sudbury House, all staff are required to have a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Children’s Services (98% of our staff have a Diploma in Children’s Services), current First Aid certificate, a Health clearance, a Working with Children check and a National Police clearance

As we continue our journey of evidence-based research, that emphasises the importance of learning in the Early Years, staff at the Centre have embraced the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Framework and have set up the environment to reflect and support children in their learning and development.

All children have a Learning Story Portfolio. Staff use this portfolio as an interactive way to share their understanding of the child’s learning and progress. They record stories, jottings and anecdotes about the child’s experiences in the program that they feel capture important moments, interests and achievements.

We encourage families to share some stories about what they do at home and the things they think are   important and add it to their child’s portfolio as well. That way we can create a lasting record of their child’s learning at home, in the community and in our program.
